September 15 – October 15 is National Hispanic American Heritage Month. It’s also the four weeks during which the majority of Oregon’s grapes are harvested. If, as the saying goes, wine is made in the vineyard, then great wine can’t be made without the experience of the Hispanic and Latinx vineyard stewards.

Raíces Unidas is six Hispanic Oregon winery owners and winemakers who have come together to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. They are offering a special wine or selection for the month with 10% of sales donated to local organizations supporting education and leadership development within Oregon’s Latinx community.

You can also join all six on October 1 for a virtual panel exploring their stories and celebrating their heritage (offered in English & Spanish).

Founded and led by successful Latinx wine professionals, the Asociación Hispana de la Industria del Vino en Oregon y Comunidad (AHIVOY), in partnership with Chemeketa Community College, provides education and professional development opportunities to vineyard workers in Oregon’s wine industry.

AHIVOY’s inaugural online auction fundraiser will run September 25-27. From your couch you can bid on weekend getaways, private dinners, cases of wine and more. Your participation will enable working Latinx and Hispanic vineyard stewards to attend educational training while realizing potential career and leadership opportunities. 100% of your auction contribution goes to education and ultimately strengthening the Oregon wine community.
